half a day, or some days
optimal way is to enter a game at Day 1 - at first turn - but trying it out a few turns later is no big deal if you only want to learn.
As for questions in game mechanics etc, as ahead.

The games you see on this list is it. Once a game finishes, it restarts 1 "turn" or 1/2 day later. when you start, just join whatever looks interesting and soon you will be on a cycle of games, starting them at turn 1-3. As a new player tho it doesn't matter what turn you start, you still get 1 point for playing no matter what. | |
